Interactive and media
Calculators, explorers and players readers use, not just look at.
The idea
Interactive templates are tools readers use rather than charts they only look at. Calculators, guessing games, explorers, players and annotated graphics invite people to take part, which keeps them on the page and makes the data personal. Use them when the reader's own input is part of the story.
Where to use it
- Estimators, quizzes and self-assessments
- Letting readers guess a trend before revealing it
- Exploring a dataset with filters and search
- Countdowns, audio stories and annotated images
